Bust portrait of King Sigismund III. of Poland (1566-1632) from the House of Vasa, who was also the reigning King of Sweden for a time, in half profile to the right in a highly oval frame. The king wears a breastplate with a silk collar woven with the Polish coat of arms and the Order of the Golden Fleece on his chest. Inside the frame are his name and a list of his titles. Below the medallion is a text line with a six-line Latin poem of praise to the ruler. At the bottom right is the printed signature of the Augsburg engraver Lucas Kilian (1579-1637). Below the plate is a trimmed contemporary handwritten text in brown ink with a Latin vita of the king. Singer 85119, Wolfenbüttel A 16736, Hollstein 427.
Condition: on thin laid paper. With a circumferential plate edge. Somewhat stained. There is a larger, backed loss on the bottom left edge outside the border line. There are several small damages outside the plate below. There are small assembly residues in the two left corners on the verso. Verso is a non-transparent blue collector's stamp: S.
