Attribution of this coin to the 4th unspecified oriental mint instead of Antiochia (as in RIC V.2) is based on the article by prof. S. Estiot, "L’Empereur et l’usurpateur: un 4e atelier oriental sous Probus"; Studies in ancient coinage in honor of Anndrew Burnett, Spink, London, 2015. Only eight specimens of this type are cited in the above article. Very impressive portrait in unusually good style for this mint (Probus portraits on coins from the 4th oriental mint are for the most part overly angular, crude, and totally unrealistic). Beautiful example with full silvering!
