Germany, Saxony, Bernard II (1011-59), pfennig, circa 1040-60, Jever mint.
Obv. [CVONRA]DVV[S], bearded head ¾ left.
Rv. BED VS, a standard.
Silver, 0.77 g, 19.7 mm. Dannenberg 591; Kluge 242 variety; Kilger Jev C:1.
Grade: XF, lustre on the entire surface, exceptionally well preserved. Rare!
The obverse may have had the legend CVONRADVS (Dannenberg 591) or the repeated BERNHARDVS (Dannenberg 592-593). The presented coin does not exactly correspond to any of these variants, but the position of the letter D on Obv. speaks in favor of the first variant.
